 Staff Thermal Engineer – HW-THERM-IN
Bangalore, India
Full-Time

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1) DESIGN
a)       Contribute to the definition of product features taking into account mechanical/electrical/thermal tradeoffs, customer needs and company goals.
b)       Research, define, design, and test parts to implement these features.
c)       Create products using sound technical judgment in all areas.
d)       Complete tasks with minimal redesign, paying close attention to detail.
e)       Develop design objectives and schedules.  Work actively to achieve them.
f)        Create and/or have created prototypes of the thermal parts, i.e., heat sinks, baffles, etc.
g)       Work with Manufacturing, Purchasing and suppliers directly to establish sources for all parts and assemblies.
h)       Work with Mechanical Design  Engineer to implement thermal solutions
i)         Follow through and energetically support introduction of new designs to production.
 
2) TEAM CONTRIBUTION / COMMUNICATION
a)       Organize the efforts and enlist the support of the other related areas of the company and outside services.
b)       Thermocouple and test all products upon prototype reception.
c)       Verify thermal compliance per NEBS criteria
d)       Keep all appropriate persons informed of the status of their respective projects
e)       Exhibit flexibility in accomplishing a wide breadth of assignments.
f)        “Mentor” less experienced engineers or persons both technically and procedurally.
g)       Work from product concept to production with minimal supervision.
 
3) INNOVATION
a)       Occasionally invent creative new ideas, which have value either directly to the product under development or to the company in general.
 
PERFORMANCE  MEASURES  (For the above major responsibilities)
 
1) DESIGN
a)       Demonstration of a good grasp of customer needs for a given product.
b)       Knowledge of the technical tradeoffs involved.
c)       Meeting of design objectives (cost, reliability, performance, etc.)
d)       Meeting of schedules.
e)       Manufacturability of designs.
f)        Appropriate number of prototype iterations required to complete a design.
g)       Smooth transition of products into production.
 
2) TEAM CONTRIBUTION/COMMUNICATION
a)       Effective, on-time accomplishment of tasks
b)       Feedback from the related areas.
c)       Clarity in other areas on project status as it affects the team.
d)       Variety of tasks accomplished
e)       Recognition as an “authority” in one or more areas.
 
3) INNOVATION
a)       Number of novel ideas.
b)       Good judgment relating to time management of total workload.
c)       Follow through on ideas.
d)       Subprojects/projects spawned from these ideas.
e)       Patentability.
 
 
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
 
1)       BSME, MSME preferred
2)       Experience with thermal analysis package, strong preference for FloTherm expertise
3)       Minimum of 7 years thermal design experience of high powered systems.
4)       Experience with optical component cooling designs
5)       Expertise in state of the art cooling techniques
6)       Pro/E Wildfire/PDMLink experience a plus
7)       Minimum of 5 years experience in the design of telecom networking products required.
8)       Fluent in written and verbal English.
